[Milly is... positively elephantine in size, everything aches, she gets exhausted after the very slightest bit of exercise and it seems as though she has a bladder the size of a walnut that her baby finds incredibly comfy because she just cannot get comfortable without having to get up and use the bathroom two minutes later. And that is without all the false alarms and Braxton Hicks contractions she's been suffering for the last week. At the back of her mind, she's grateful that it's not been for very long at all, but even so she's uncomfortable and impatiently excited to meet her daughter or son and finally see her feet again.

And the house just cannot be clean enough for her tastes. Milly is cleaning like a woman on a mission. In between checking and double checking the nursery, trying to knit booties- and failing- and napping, she's going crazy with a feather duster and vacuum. Watch out, Trigun house.

She is on her hands and knees scrubbing the skirting boards... question is: will she ever be able to get up again?]

Alright! Spicy food hasn't worked, long walks haven't worked, and jumping up and down is really really uncomfortable so I don't want to try that unless I absolutely have to, but I'm beginning to go crazy waiting and there's only so much cleaning I can do before I need to take a nap.

I don't suppose any mothers out there know any sure fire ways to get a baby coming? Because I'm just about ready to have mine now and Muffin is showing no signs of moving at all. I'm at my wits' end!

Well I would if I could, but it's not very comfortable for me so I haven't really. But I don't want to jump up and down on the bed in case I break it and there aren't any bumpy roads to go for a ride on.

How far are you, is it about time that it should be coming, or are you trying to do it far too soon?

Well, I do know a few things... Acupuncture is said to help, though I'm sure that isn't exactly readily available.

The other is a little more accessible, [giggle] sex should do the trick.

The baby's due any day now, and not a moment too soon either! I just can't wait to meet him or her at last.

Acupuncture is a type of traditional medicine from China, it involves setting thin needles in pressure points. Some people swear by it for everything.

Uhm, it doesn't quite work like that, I'm afraid. It's not advisable to induce labor without some sort of extenuating circumstances.

Nope, we have no idea what we're having, we're trying to keep it a surprise until he or she gets here.

[Ooh dear, needles. That sounds... horrifying to be honest.]

D-did you say needles? I don't think I'd like that very much, it sounds pretty painful...

Thank you! It wasn't really something we were trying to make happen, but it's happened and my husband and I couldn't be happier. I think I'll be happier when I get to meet the baby though, instead of carrying them around.

I don't think jumping up and down is really a good idea. But I don't know a lot about that stuff.

But there's got to be something to do, and I've been eating so much spicy food that the baby and I both had terrible hiccups last night. I don't think my husband got a wink of sleep.

You can ask! I'm three months along which is much too early when you think about it, but that's apparently how long it takes here according to my doctor. I don't... really understand how the Malnosso could change it to be that short but that's how it is, and believe me I'm ready to have my baby now.

My Big Big Sister managed to get my nephew on the way by going for a ride in a car with terrible suspension, so because I haven't got one of those I thought jumping about would help but it hasn't. It just makes me feel uncomfortable.

Spicy food will do that to you, yeah. It's not bad for the baby, but you might want to lay off it if it's become a problem.

I'm staying completely clear of the spicy food, and besides, cooking up a spicy chilli makes a terrible mess of the kitchen and I just got finished getting it squeaky clean.

I know, and I don't want to do anything that's dangerous or could hurt my baby but I'm just very ready to have them here and they're just taking their sweet time getting a move on.

[...oh dear, she really hopes Wolfwood's stubbornness isn't genetic. She loves him to bits but it would be very unfair if they were both stubborn and ganged up on her.]

I don't know why the baby would want to be stubborn and stay all cooped up and cramped in there when there's a lovely new bed and clothes and kisses waiting for him or her.

Well... it doesn't know that though does it? Being cooped up is all it knows! What if it comes out and everyone is mean and funny looking?

Well, you know, babies can't actually see properly to start off with, and then when they get a little bit older everything stops being blurry. The baby should know who we are by then and know we're not scary.

[He waits for her to finish up with her... well, baby attempts? He's not sure what to call them. Anyway, he waits for that to finish up before he finally approaches her. As she's busily cleaning their room.]

I think you're over-thinking this a little, big girl. You need to rest and wait for him or her to give the word, I think.

[The sound of his voice is enough to get Milly to drop her feather duster and turn to him quicker than she would have thought herself capable of, considering her size.

Because now that he is here it is time to attempt the one baby speeding up technique she hasn't tried yet.]

I can't rest, I can't get comfortable and I just want Muffin to get a move on and get here. I need you to take your pants off now, please.
