[Milly is... positively elephantine in size, everything aches, she gets exhausted after the very slightest bit of exercise and it seems as though she has a bladder the size of a walnut that her baby finds incredibly comfy because she just cannot get comfortable without having to get up and use the bathroom two minutes later. And that is without all the false alarms and Braxton Hicks contractions she's been suffering for the last week. At the back of her mind, she's grateful that it's not been for very long at all, but even so she's uncomfortable and impatiently excited to meet her daughter or son and finally see her feet again.
And the house just cannot be clean enough for her tastes. Milly is cleaning like a woman on a mission. In between checking and double checking the nursery, trying to knit booties- and failing- and napping, she's going crazy with a feather duster and vacuum. Watch out, Trigun house.
She is on her hands and knees scrubbing the skirting boards... question is: will she ever be able to get up again?]

Alright! Spicy food hasn't worked, long walks haven't worked, and jumping up and down is really really uncomfortable so I don't want to try that unless I absolutely have to, but I'm beginning to go crazy waiting and there's only so much cleaning I can do before I need to take a nap.
I don't suppose any mothers out there know any sure fire ways to get a baby coming? Because I'm just about ready to have mine now and Muffin is showing no signs of moving at all. I'm at my wits' end!

Date: 2012-05-10 03:03 am (UTC)Watson. Doctor John Watson.
[ A small pause, as if to think. ]
Actually, Mrs. Wolfwood, what would speed things up a bit is relaxing. You see, all this moving about is actually making your body tighter than it should be, and upsetting the baby. And so you're more or less... slowing down the process by putting such a stress on the both of you.
[ And it's never right to shake a baby too much, Milly. But John's got his doctor voice on, and it's a gentle, if a bit worried, sort of tone. ]
Does that make sense to you?

Mm, it does make an awful lot of sense. I don't know, it's all so new and exciting and I sort of expected my mother and sisters to be around when I was having my first baby to offer me advice so I feel a little bit lost really, but everybody here is being so helpful. I think, once I finish getting the house all clean I might go and have a nice bath. That might help a bit.

Date: 2012-05-10 05:36 am (UTC)I'm sure you've got some sort of family and friends here that support you, though?
But you really shouldn't be bending or lifting at the moment. I know that's difficult to get used to, but it's just for the rest of this month. Consider it a holiday, if you like.
Cleaning, though, that ought to be a job for Mister Wolfwood. If you've got any trouble convincing him of it, you can send him to me.
[ The slight playfulness of his tone implies a smile. ]
Who is your doctor at the moment?
