Hello everyone, I was wondering if you could help me with an experiment? You see we're about to start our little boy Noah on real food and I was wondering if anybody had any good recipes for tasty soft foods that might help make him take to real food easier than just pureed vegetables and fruits and things like that. I can't help but think that proper food would be a lot more appetising, and it'd sure save me some time when it comes to cooking for the whole house if we're all having the same thing!

[She sighs, sounding a little wistful.]

I can't believe he's five months old already, it just doesn't seem like enough time's gone by for him to be that big, but at the same time it seems like he's been here forever, I think've almost forgotten what life was like before I was a mama. Ooh, that's a good question!

Tell me Luceti, what's the best thing that's happened to you while you've been here that you wouldn't change for anything?

That's just lovely, I have five older brothers and five older sisters myself, there's something wonderful about being part of a big family.

Oh yes, the eleven of us sure gave our parents a few headaches, but by the time I was born my Big Big Brother and Big Big Sister were 15 and 14 so they were able to help out, and so did the big twins.

[Before her eyes get misty at the memory of absent loved ones, there's a feline yowl and an unmistakeable infant giggle.]

Noah, the cat isn't a toy! Please excuse me just one moment- Oh no, never mind, she's on the bookshelf now. We're okay.

That, is also fortunate. The poor cat. Hopefully Noah will learn the cat isn't made for pulling on.

Sadly his father thinks that poor Kuroneko is a devil cat and encourages him. One of these days it's going to end in tears and somebody sleeping on the sofa.

It'd be best if you tried talking to him again. Poor Noah doesn't need to be scratched because of that. I know my sister had to learn that lesson, she wouldn't go near a cat willingly for a very long time.

That's true, but at the end of the day he also needs to learn how to respect her; she's been around a lot longer than he has after all. I'll just have to keep telling him no and keeping an eye on them when he's around her.

Ooh, yes, I know what you mean about having a garden! It's almost impossible to grow anything on our planet, so having that here and all the delicious food that comes from the earth fresh and readily available is fantastic.

[She smiles warmly at that question.]

You know, it was exhausting to start because the baby needed to be fed around the clock and it just felt like I was never ever going to be able to get enough sleep, but now that he's bigger and sleeping most of the night, it's not nearly so bad, and it's worth losing a little sleep if it means having him.

You know that's a very good question and I don't really know the answer; it's just a desert planet and it's been awfully barren ever since people started living on it. You have to try really really hard to ever get anything to grow and even then it's hit and miss.

[And then she laughs a little.]

No, he's still too little for that. It'll be a few more months before he starts making words I'd say.

Yes and no, it'll be exciting when he starts to talk but at the same time it means that he's getting bigger and bigger and he won't be a baby for that much longer. To be honest, I'm just enjoying every moment I get and not wishing any of them away.

Yeah, that's a good point. It's a shame there's no way to make baby videos, here. It would have been a way to remember how he was when he was little.

We did the same thing with my little brother. Whoever did the cooking would set aside a small portion for him and we'd puree it for him to eat. At that age start with simple tastes, no spices or rich sauces and cut out any bones from meat.

I remember one time my sister accidentally gave my nephew some curry and that was a very messy mistake! I'm definitely not looking to give him an upset stomach when it comes to introducing him to real food, I think spicy food is going to have to wait.

How much older than your brother are you?

I'm ten years older than him. I know it seems like quite the difference, but it didn't affect how close we were.

Oh I understand, there's fifteen years between my oldest brother and me, and we were just as close as could be growing up.

There's fifteen years between myself and my little sister, but I didn't know her since she was born like with my brother. [Because both of Leonhardt's little siblings are adopted, he just grew up with Joshua, but didn't meet Renne until she was 7.]

Well that doesn't matter, it doesn't mean you love her any less, right?　I didn't know my little sister Amelia really well until we all wound up in Luceti, but that doesn't mean she's not not part of the family.

I think he can probably manage a donut on his own without having to have it pureed, and I'm sure if you puree donuts you just get breadcrumbs.

You have a baby here? That's quite the accomplishment! I would have thought that with all the experiments and such that people wouldn't have wanted to try having a kid here. Or was he just a happy accident? Yohohoho! I love children! They are the easiest and most appreciative people to entertain.

Hmm... do you have any honey? Then you might be able to make some tastier pureed vegetables that your baby might be more willing to consume.

Well goodness, I don't know how willing he'll even be to try veggies but I'll have to remember the honey thing if he doesn't like them. I hope he won't be that fussy, my littlest niece was terrible when it came to weaning her onto real food, my sister in law just couldn't get her to eat anything but mushy breakfast cereal.

Oh, you wanted to know about how we wound up with him? Well my husband and I weren't really looking to start a family so soon, but nature took her course and we couldn't be happier with him. He's such a sweet little boy, we're so blessed.

Well as I recall, it is fairly important to keep his diet balanced if you can. Although my experience with babies is a little limited, and rather dated, so take my advice with a grain of salt. By mushy cereal do you mean gruel, or perhaps that thing with the oats? What's that called again? Oat something...

That sounds rather splendid! When did you two get married? I haven't been here very long myself, but I hadn't ever realized people settled down, got married, and had kids around here. It's actually sort of inspiring in it's own way. Not that I could ever have kids mind you, but just that people have enough faith in their futures to do so. Yohohoho!

Oh they usually get started on very soft things that don't have too strong a taste, like soft fruits or breads or mashed up things, but that's not exciting for us to have to eat so I'll just have to start planning our menus to include him too.
